Our Locality

We are so blessed that our beautiful school is located within the stunning Peak District. We have Windgather Rocks as our backdrop, Highland cows for neighbours and stunning views out of our windows! We have the best viewing spot to observe the seasons as they change, and the drive to reach us, from whichever direct you are travelling, will simply take your breath away.

For a small school we also have the most incredible amount of outdoor space for our children to use - we have a field, two playgrounds, great outdoor equipment AND a garden!

As we have such a rich environment on our doorstep we make the most of this. as you will see from our Enrichment Schedule.

We go on lots of walks which all start on our doorstep.

We develop our understanding of our environment so that we know how to care for it in the most effective and sensitive way and we do this through our weekly Forest School sessions.

We run an outdoor pursuits skilled based curriculum in conjunction with White Hall Outdoor Centre (based in Buxton). This will be a programme of activities which all pupils take part in on a half termly basis (12 sessions per academic year) where they will develop skills in:

  • Rock climbing (indoor and outdoor)
  • Kayaking and canoeing
  • Abseiling
  • Rock scrambling and stream scrambling
  • Orienteering
  • Caving
  • Hillwalking
  • Mountain biking
  • Improvised rafting
  • Zip wires
  • High ropes and low ropes
  • Bushcraft
