Enrichment

Enrichment opportunities during curriculum time

We want to ensure that whilst our children are in our care we expose them to as many opportunities as we can.

We want their learning to be rich and meaningful, broad and exciting, real and purposeful.

We want our pupils to engage with the world beyond the classroom and we aim to do that in a multitude of ways.

We will take our children on fieldtrips to bring their learning about the world, during our Georgraphy lessons, to life.

We will visit museums to experience their learning about the past in different ways.

We will travel to different places of worship, so that they can experience life through the eyes of people with different faiths.

We will bring real scientists to our setting to make things pop, bang and fizz in front of our eyes.

We will put all of our Forest School skills and our White Hall talents to the test when we go on our residentials.

We will connect with our local area, our local people and our local history.

Enrichment is such an important aspect of our curriculum as it puts our learning to the test and takes it out of the PowerPoint and into real life.

We hope that you enjoy the adventure.

Additional enrichment opportunities

At Kettleshulme we also offer lots of additional opportunities for your child(ren) to engage with if they choose to.

We offer a multitude of clubs, some of which are during lunch time, others are after school. Examples of these clubs are:

Mindfulness Club

Drama Club

Cross Country Club

Football Club

Rock Band

Peak Active Sports

Steel Pan Band

There are also opportunities for specialist teachers to work with your child on a 1:1 basis. We have Arlen in school who teaches piano and Mr Hudson who teaches guitar. These sessions need to be funded by parents.

In addition to all of the above we also offer LAMDA sessions with Harry. Again these sessions are funded by parents. Harry is a professional actor who trained at LAMDA. He has performed on stage at The Orange Tree in Enda Walsh’s ‘The Small Things’, and in radio dramas The Rat Catcher and Slay on Audible and On screen, Harry appeared in ‘The Little Backstreet in Salford’ for ITV and also won ITV’s Tony Warren Bursary. Harry uses his passion for comedy to create a playful atmosphere in his teaching and loves to get the best out of every single one of his students. He loves seeing students using their skills in drama to succeed in every aspect of their lives.
